We maintain an 'Open Door' policy at Rainbow. This allows all parents the chance to come and observe what the children are actually doing, and to talk about their child's progress. We value news and information that parents wish to share with us about their children, and aim to build upon all the good work that goes on in their own homes.
We encourage all our visitors to admire the displays of children's work, and hope that if parents possess a particular talent or skill, that he or she will come and share it with us.
Equal Opportunities Policy
At Rainbow Nursery we extend a warm welcome to all children regardless of religion, race, culture or abilities. This includes children with special needs. The nursery has wheelchair access and the staff have the qualities required to meet the emotional, social and educational needs of all the children in their care.
Boys and girls equally enjoy all activities in the nursery. We encourage all children to develop a non-stereotyped perspective of the wide range of roles played by men and women in society today.
In our daily activities we try to reflect the diverse nature of our society. Through books, posters, story, song and art, we aim to help the children find out more about their multi-cultural world and to positively celebrate its diversity.
Special Needs Policy
Our nursery aims to have regard for the 1994 DfEE Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of Special Needs and to provide a welcome and appropriate learning opportunity for all children.
Children with special needs, like all other children are admitted to the nursery after consultation between parents, Sheena Giblett and staff.
All children are respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and nurtured.
We encourage parents/guardians to talk about their children's development with staff on an informal basis, and aim to provide as much information as possible about their progress.
Our staff attend, whenever possible, training on special needs arranged by professional bodies.
Monitoring Children's Progress
All children develop at a different rate. We are aware of this from the very moment they are born. At Rainbow we constantly monitor each child's individual progress whether in terms of developing social skills or mathematical concepts. We are always pleased to share this information with parents and may, where appropriate and with the parents' consent, impart this information to other agencies. (For instance, Schools and Health Visitors.)
Key-Worker System
At Rainbow Nursery we have adopted a 'Key-Worker' system.
A key-worker has special responsibility for a group of children within the nursery. Parents and children know the name of their key-worker from the time they start nursery. The key-worker will ensure that the needs for each child in their group are recognised.
It is important to know that a key-worker does NOT shadow their children throughout the session, liaise only with their key-group of children or prevent other adults from developing a relationship with their key-children.
The system is very beneficial to you and your child, please make full use of it, by keeping in contact with your key-worker and discussing any matters concerning your child with them if possible at the end of the session.
Your child's records are available for you to see at any time.
Rules Regarding Fees
-
Parents are invoiced termly in accordance with the sessions they have booked for their children.
-
We ask that all accounts are settled during the first week of each term.
-
If a child is absent for one or more sessions through illness, the child's place is kept open for his/her return, and therefore payment must be made despite the absence. If however, there is a long-term illness and the child's place can be filled, a refund may be negotiated.
-
Parents are also advised that if holiday is taken during term time, payment must be made as staffing costs must be met despite the child's absence.
